Why is Energy Upgrade important?

We all know that the need to increase energy efficiency is the No. 1 objective for the future of both Europe and the planet. Compared to 1990, the increase in energy consumption of the country's existing buildings has doubled and in some cases, such as in the tertiary sector, tripled! Amid an energy crisis, each of us should take this problem seriously and undertake an upgrade that prioritizes environmental sustainability. But apart from saving the planet, what benefit will my business get from an Energy Upgrade?

 The main objectives of the upgrade are to reduce energy losses and consumption with more efficient engines and of course the financial benefit to the company, as it will pay less money for the same project.

We will present one of our projects, the energy upgrade of a dual pump water supply pressure system for an industrial building so that we can show the practical benefits for your business.

It is about the replacement of an existing simple panel that doesn’t have an Inverter, with a new panel that has the two new types of external Grundfos Inverters CUE 3Kw and the CU352 control panel.

The Inverter CUE is a complete range of external frequency converters designed for speed control of a wide range of Grundfos pumps and more. The Inverter CUE has an integrated PI controller and offers the same functionality as Grundfos E-pumps.

 The CU 352 control unit is a combination of a controller and a user-friendly control panel. The control panel consists of nine buttons and a large LCD graphic display. The CU 352 control panel always displays the current status of the system, the measured values of the respective pressure sensors, as well as any alarms or errors.

 

By choosing an MPC-EF Control Panel solution, you get the benefits:

  • Functionality and interface with any BMS protocol
  • Application, functions, and necessary restrictions related to the pump family of your installation
  • Smooth operation (avoiding hydraulic shock) and economy compared to fixed-speed pumps.
  • Very easy installation and start up compared to the corresponding frequency converters.
  • Pump speed control up to 250 kW.

 

So, by helping the planet, this energy upgrade also offered the company:

  • Constant pressure in the installation and at the same time maximum energy savings of 7.000 kWh per year.
  • Ease of operation via the screen (pressure adjustment, fault diagnosis & immediate intervention)
  • System communication with the building management system.

 

The benefits of the energy upgrade are much more than we thought, while the payback time of the investment is estimated at only 1 year.
